What's in my travel makeup bag - Bali edition

I went for a 5 days trip to Bali last weekend and I'd like to share with you guys what makeup I brought with me. I was gonna take the pics while I was there, but I ended up being so busy I didn't have time. 

So here are the makeup bag that i brought with me 

I like to separate my liquid and powder stuff. I checked in the liquid bag and carry the powder ones in my hand bag. I don't want to risk shattering any of my pressed powder compact and liquid stuff is just too heavy to carry in my purse. 

Here are everything in the pressed powder bag.

These are my favorite fake lashes. They are wispies accent lashes. Looks very natural on the eyes and I always gets compliments whenever I use these.

NARS deep throat is hands down my favorite all time blusher. It's a warm peachy pink. 

MAC stunner is part of a limited edition MAC me up collection. It's such a pretty pink blush with a gorgeous sheen. it's definitely cooler tone compared to NARS deep throat.

11. Shiseido Sun Protection Foundation 

I brought this foundation with me because of the SPF and because it doesn't budge once it's set on the skin. Perfect for the hot and humid Bali weather. 

12. Make Up Store Cover All Mix

This is a new addition to my foundation routine. I love the texture and coverage of this concealer wheel. 

13. Minis

I like to travel with mini products. So, I poured in some of my chanel vitalumiere aqua foundation in the MAC sample jar. I also brought with me benefit minis that I got from the rare beauty kit. High beam is the perfect liquid highlighter and I mostly use benetint on my lips. It creates the most beautiful pinkish healthy look on my lips. 

14. Tools 

As for tools I only brought with me my mini tweezerman tweezer and sephora sharpener.

Mainly I just use the brow gel on the brow fantasy and use the pencil from the colorstay eyebrow liner. 

18. Maybelline Long Extreme Stiletto Waterproof mascara

This is my current favorite mascara. It has some fiber that will lengthen the lashes. I got tons of compliment wearing this mascara. A lot of people thought I wear false lashes when I use this. It made my non-existent lashes very noticeable. The funny thing is, every time I told people It's just a drugstore mascara, no one believes me. It's really amazing.

Singapore Haul - day 2

Hi again everyone. I am super tired right now. I spent the whole day jumping from shop to shop. I didn't buy that much beauty products though, so here is it:

I found travalo at watsons taka. SUPER EXCITED. I've never tried this before. I bought two, which is the black and gold one. One for Viva La Jucicy and the other for Daisy. They are approximately 25 SGD.

Yesterday, I was flipping singapore's cleo magazine and saw the ad for the new L'oreal Color riche lipstick line. It is a few pages of different makeup look. One of it has this pic

An orange lipstick that i've been looking around since Ashley Grenne's photo on seventeen magazine. So, I went to check out the line. There are 20 colours in total, but for some reason, they only have 10 in the special lipsticks display. The colour in this ad is supposed to be the colour no 373, magnetic rose. They are SGD 20.90, but right now watsons is having quite some sale. So, they are 20% off. 

I am very disappointed in the colour. It doesn't look at all orange. It's just another coral lipstick to me. I really don't understand how they promote this shade with such an ad. The colour is not even close. 

When i swatched it in the store, i was pretty surprised how the real colour differ from the ad campaign pic. I bought this just to show you guys how inaccurate the ad is. 

Also, because I'm me, I can't just buy one, so tried some neutrals 

235, Nude. It doesn't seem like it has much pigmentation, but I like the sheen.

379, Sensual Rose.

Just so you guys can see the pigmentation, i did swatch these lipsticks on my hand.

Okay, one last thing i picked up. 

Shu Uemura creamy dome blusher in sunlight peach. This is part of a collection, which means it's limited edition. I really like how easily blend-able this is. I haven't tried this on my face though.

Concealer of 2010

Time for concealer of 2010 ^^


Let's just get started

1. Make Up For Ever "5 Camouflage Cream Palette" 

Mine is in the palette no 1. It came with 5 shades with one green concealer to correct any redness. I don't use all of the color though. I mostly only use the third and fourth color. This palette is useful for me to do makeup on other people, but if you only want a concealer for yourself, you can just buy one of the shade in a jar form. 


The consistency is more or less like MAC studio finish concealer, but i fell like this one give more coverage. 


2. Amazing Cosmetics "Amazing Concealer" 

This is a medium to full coverage concealer with a liquid consistency. Easy to blend and good coverage. Great for the under eye area, but i don't really recommend this on the rest of the face. It doesn't dry and it slides easily without being set with powder. I once left a tiny dot of this concealer on my palette in my room. I left it for the whole day and when i came back at night it's still pretty runny and liquid-y. 

3. Maybelline "Age rewind Double Face Perfector" 

This is the one that came in with highlighter. This is probably one of the best concealer i have ever tried. It's a liquid concealer with great coverage. it dries on the skin and did not slide around. The highlight is pretty good. The only problem i have with this concealer is that it came in a TINY tube. If you use this everyday, you would probably run out of concealer in 2-3 weeks. 

4. Shu Uemura "Pro Concealer" 

This concealer is not as creamy as MAC studio finish concealer, so it takes more effort in blending, but the coverage is way better. I really don't recommend this for the under eye though, because it has such dry consistency. It also crease pretty easily. I use this mainly on my acne scaring and by far this is the concealer that stays on the longest on my face.

5. Laneige "Snow Crystal Dual Foundation"

This foundation came in with the concealer. I did a full review of the foundation, but never talk about the concealer. I have to say this would probably be the winner for concealer of 2010. I've hit pan on mine (the picture was taken when i first got the foundation). The concealer is creamy enough that it's easy to blend, full coverage, not sticky, stays on all day, it's basically AMAZING.

Primer of 2010

Sorry for the slight delay. wednesday was my birthday, so was a bit carried over.


So anyway, let's start from the the primer of 2010.


Basically during 2010 i've tried so many primers. for example: Urban Decay's complexion primer potions, de slick in a tube, MAC fortified skin enhancer, MAC BB cream, etc. But the only one that stands out is Shu Uemura UV under base mousse.


This beats everything else. No joke. This is probably part of my skin care routine. I can't go a day without it.


It came with 2 shades, beige and pink. I'm asian, so beige is a better bet for me. It doesn't give coverage, but it definitely brighten the skin. I've gone through a few of these.

Another reason why i like this primer so much is because it kinda remove the stickiness of moisturizer.


Last reason why i love this so much is because of the SPF 30 PA+++. None of my skin care routine has SPF in it. So this also work as my sunblock.

Shu Uemura with Aya Takano

Like every holiday collection, shu uemura will work with a japanese artist to create a whole CUTE limited edition line which mostly has a makeup palette. 

So this year Shu Uemura chose to work with Aya Takano. A japanese pop artist that is always inspired by manga and american science fiction

This collection consists of:

sparkly paint crayon, 2 sets of eyelashes, 2 makeup palettes, 3 lip duo tint and gloss, limited-edition cleansing oil, blush tint, a mini brush set, and a makeup bag. 

Firstly I got 2 of the lip duo tint and gloss. I am pretty sure that they came out with 3 of these, but when i checked the US website there are only 2 of these. 

I got the "harmony pink" and the "love apricot"

They are packed in this cute stackable jar. The gloss is in the top jar and the lip tint in the bottom jar. 

I must say that i won't necessarily call this a lip tint. It has the consistency of a matte lipstick. Even the makeup artist called this matte lipstick. So, let us all agree that this is lipstick. Okay?? ^^

i'm so sorry for the crappy quality of picture. I'm too lazy to take my usual camera, and i took these pics in my house in hong kong, so no good lighting.

harmony pink: the lipstain / lipstick has a decent pigmentation. It is rather a neutral pink. 

The gloss has a bit of pigmentation.

love apricot: the gloss is basically just clear with sparkles. 

The picture doesn't do any justice for the lipstain / lipstick. It is a very nice peachy nude. LOVELY.

Okay, now for the palette,

This is the main thing that i wanted from this collection ^^ 

last year shu uemura came out with 2 palette with tsumori chisato. I have to say, both of those palette are not well put together. This time with aya takano they actually have one palette that is very neutral and wearable for everyday. 

it is the Bowwow! Magic Queen Palette

The palette has 3 eyeshadows (gold, taupe, and bronze), a black gel liner, a gold cream highlight, a very pale peach blush, a double ended sponge tip applicator, and a double ended liner and blush brush. 

Again I'm so sorry about the crappy picture that can't do any justice to the actual products, but here is the crappy swatch:

the blush doesn't really show up in this pic, but it is actually pigmented with a slight glitter.

Okay, i need to add, IF you are in Hong Kong, you need to buy Shu Uemura. I have just convert all of the prices. Last year when i bought this kind of palette from the tsumori chisato collection in singapore, i paid about HK$ 775 (after converting). I only pay HK$ 480 for this one.  Rumor has it that it is even cheaper than if you buy it in japan. 

After purchasing a certain amount of money, i got the makeup bag and a view other items for free, so this is the makeup bag:

Anyway, beside the aya takano collection, i did purchased their platinum makeup palette. It is damn expensive in Singapore. In Hong Kong I paid half the price of the price in singapore. So do the math! I'd be stupid not to buy it here.

So this is how it looks like:

It came in with 16 pcs of square double sided tapes for eyeshadows and a mirror if you want your palette to have a mirror on one side.

each side can hold 8 eyeshadows or 4 blushes. You can customized the palette how ever you want it.
