Haul #2

Hi Guys,

So, just when I think I've done enough shopping for the month, my mom asked me to go to the mall to check the price for some stuff that she wants to get.
*let's put the blame on my mom*
I ended up looking through some more stuff at the department store.

So after my last Chanel fall 2010 haul, I went to youtube to see people's thought about the collection. (Yeps, bad idea. anyway, shouldn't I be looking through those before i went shopping???)
So I saw quite some people are raving about Chanel's Fall 2010 "Pink Explosion" blush.

And another thing that i really want to check out is Lancome La Rose Deco blooming glow. I think they are part of the fall collection as well. (i could be 100% wrong)

Okay, so here's the deal, they are both bloody EXPENSIVE. I can't be buying both. I mean, i can, but then I will not be eating for the rest of the month ^^. I have to choose one.

Another bad decision that i made is that I decided that I will think about those while "window-shopping" at a MAC counter near by.

Yea right, I ended up buying some stuff from MAC. Here it is:

1. Russian Red Lipstick (matte)

I can defend myself for this. I don't have any good red lipstick (although i really like my viva glam Cyndi). i've been really wanting a strong red lipstick.
Russian red is one of MAC's bestseller red lipstick. Anyway, there's no harm in trying.

gorgeous isn't it ^^
I tried to do lip swatches, but it's just not working.
I need to find a tripod for my Canon EOS.

swatches will be at the end of the post

2. Wind Me Up Dare to Wear lipglass

I skipped this one the last time i tried this collection. I just thought it's just a "blah"colour. very common and uninspiring. Yesterday, I was just curious and actually tried this on my lips, and it actually looks super nice and really great for an everyday look.

I don't think i need to justify it ^^

swatches will be at the end of the post

After I purchased these 2 items, i finally decided that the winner is:

Hurray for Lancome. My decision is made because i think i don't need an overpriced pink blush. It looks gorgeous and all but I just am not flattered by the colour (the Chanel "Pink Explosion"). Just like "another pink blush"

Lancome La Rose Deco

I first saw this in MichellePhan's video. The product itself looks gorgeous.
It might be another pink blush, but I can justify this as a collector's item and also i don't think i have anything like this in my collection. It's sheer but when you apply this, it looks like you just have a naturally blushed cheeks. no shimmer what so ever. Only a silver overspray that is gone after one swipe.

The overspray in this product is not really affecting the beauty of the powder itself. Once the overspray is gone, you will not miss it (unlike MAC Marine Life high-light powder, which when the gold overspray is gone, you'll end up with just another pink blush. HA! I said it so much today). The point is, I actually likes it better without the overspray. It looks so delicate and elegant at the same time.

I kinda forgot to take a picture of it w/o the overspray. but you basically get the idea right?

swatches will be at the end of the post

Okay, so my last purchase is from Shu Uemura

I have several Shu single shadows. Which I like so much but rarely touch because they are in my single shadows drawer (I mostly only use my palettes). So i decided I wanted to depot them and put them in a palette.

When I went to Shu store, they only have the platinum palette which if I'm not mistaken (again I can be completely wrong because i didn't actually asked the SA, I saw the tag) it is freakin 98 dollars. I'm not so sure anymore now, cause i heard it's not really that expensive (I might go back there just to ask for the price ^^). I freaked out when i saw it being 98 dollars.
I ended up buying their compact powder case, which by the way you can use to put your eyeshadows or blushes. It's 20 dollars.

this is how it looks like:

i just put 2 eyeshadows and a complimentary blush to go with the eyeshadows

that's what i ended up with

I think i need to make another trip to Shu Uemura cause i need more palettes for my other stuffs. But maybe, i'll just wait and buy them during my trip to Hong Kong next October (I can't wait for it), because Shu Uemura in Hong Kong is so much cheaper than it is here >_<

One complaint for Shu Uemura's palette. Apparently Shu Uemura doesn't believe in using magnets for their palettes. I hate permanent palette. I want to be able to switch them around and customized them when i need to.
All of Shu Uemura's palette is held by using a very messy glue that will never dry. it will just stay sticky and yucky all the time. It just looks gross to me. I ended up taking away all the glue with rubbing alcohol (such a tedious job to do) and use a non permanent reusable and removable Faber Castell tack-it to hold all of the pans.
Okay, before i end this post, I would show you guys the swatches of everything i got:
left to right: Russian Red lipstick, Wind Me Up lipglass, Lancome La Rose Deco

The Lancome La Rose Deco isn't really visible in swatch, but i promise you, it looks good on the cheek.

Okay, so that's the end of this haul, till next time

Love,

Would You Rather Tag

i know i wasn't tagged by anybody, in fact i have just started this blog thing-y.
so anyway, i think this is such a fun tag to do ^^

1.Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or Nice hair and no make-up?
i can actually go out with both of them a bit messy, but i'd rather have nice makeup and messy hair. nice hair and no makeup to e just look like you don't have time to do your makeup and that's not always pretty

2.Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?
Both of these are definitely a nightmare, but maybe.. hmmm i can't decide.. maybe i'll go with eyelashes fall out cause i can still use fake lashes ^^

3.Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?
definitely Sephora. because my Sephora actually sells MAC (does that counts as cheating?)

4.Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?
lipgloss/lipliner. I just can't imagine myself with 80s perm

5.Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?
most probably overdone makeup, cause it will fade out eventually

6.Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?
i actually have a pair of MC hammer pants, and it looks super high fashion with a pair of super high heels and a simple top

7.Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?
i would have to go with tan line, just because i have it. but looking orange-y is not even a choice

8.Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?
bad hair colour. you can fix it so much faster than if you have a bad hair cut.

9.Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?
definitely twitter. i really will have nothing to do if youtube is taken away from me

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?
Mascara. u can use brushes in several different techniques to imitate the look of mascara

have a great weekend everyone

Haul #1

Okay, I haven't been buying that much stuff for a while. So, last monday, I went to MAC with a mission to "back to MAC" some stuff. But ended up i did quite a damage to my wallet.

So first, from MAC
"Dare to wear"collection form MAC has been in store for quite a while, but I haven't got time to check those out yet, so i picked up some stuff from there (1 eyeshadow and 2 dare to wear lipglass)

MAC lime eyeshadow

This is actually not the one (which is zingy) that I wanted, but since the other one is out of stock, so I just picked this one up.
This is quite a bad purchase, since i think i won't be using this too much >.< But I'm not gonna return this. I think i can use this just to add a "pop" of colour.
Overall the pigmentation is great and the colour is interesting.

Here are the swatches:

left to right: with black base, with white base, and with no base

MAC dare to wear lipglass

I got  "so bad" and "bold & brash"
So Bad is like a coral-y orange colour with a whole lot of glitters.
Bold & Brash, has the same colour as bold & brash pigment. a very deep, bold, pink that it is almost red.

I really want to like these lipglass, but as far as the formula, i hate it.
I bought these because i don't have that many lipglass with this crazy pigmentation, but i have to tell you that these lipglass are very sticky. The sticky formula made it harder to blend. It doesn't come off easily (which might be a negative or positive). I personally hate the glitters, because it lingers on your lips for quite a long time.
One last negativity and i'll move on to the positive part. ^^
For some reason, the doe foot applicator doesn't seem to work well. I have heard this from some other review before, but didn't know what it feels till i tried it myself. The applicator doesn't really take any products from the lipglass. In the swatch i'm about to show you, it took me 8 dips to get those out (they are about 2 cm in hight).

left to right: "so bad" and "bold & brash"

So, now onto the good part. These are VERY pigmented (as I mentioned before) and this is formulated to be long wearing (again this is a very personal preference). With that being said, I have to warn you that these products will stain your lips if worn for quite a while.

I got 3 lipsticks form "back to MAC"

:) I'm always excited for "back to MAC' products. because they are FREE ^^
So the three colours that I got are:

- MAC freckletone lipstick
I might be the last person on earth that doesn't have this lipstick. but I finally got it.. YAY ^^
This soon become one of my favorite nude lipstick.

- MAC lustering lipstick
a very sweet colour that i will probably wear more for nighttime

- MAC lipblossum lpstick
And yet another pink lipstick. i heart pink lipstick ^^

Swatches:

left to right: freckletone, lustering, lipblossum

next stop is Chanel counter.
I have been thinking about their fall 2010 collection
Since i saw michele1218's July favorite video, i've been thinking about the "taupe grise" single eyeshadow.

So these are my chanel purchase. : )

1. Taupe Grise eyeshadow
It gray with a hint of brown.
The texture of this eyeshadow is really amazing. very silky smooth. The pigmentation is great, but not as wonderful as most of chanel's single shadows.
As far as dupe, i can't find any dupe for this one. Not from MAC, UD, not even from all of the 3 "88 palettes"

2. Vert Khaki eyeshadow
to me this looks like a brown with a hint of green in it.
This is again a very silky smooth eyeshadow. Really easy to blend, the pigmentation is wonderful as usual.

Swatches:

left to right: taupe grise and vert khaki

Last but not least:

3. Rouge Coco in No. 35, Chintz
To me this is like my lips but better colour. I have been wearing this on my lips every single day
This is a moisturizing lipstick that is really easy to blend. It looks sweet and elegant at the same time.
Very recommended ^^

Swatch:

Yeps, so that's all for my first haul.
i hope this is helpful
