Current Obsession : Hot Pink Lipstick

I've been loving hot pink lipstick lately. Especially on days that i don't feel like putting on too much makeup. The bold colour helps attract people's attention to my lips rather than the absence of eyeshadow etc.

Here's my top 2 pick of hot pink lipstick

1. Dior Addict Extreme in the colour Plaza (476)

This is a rather sheer hot pink, but still give a statement. It doesn't have any shimmer and last quite well on the lips.

2. Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop

This is one of the lip butters that is very pigmented. It has a slight glitter and definitely much more brighter than the dior one. The staying power is not that great. Considering that this product is supposed to moisturize your lips, it can slide easily. I would recommend carrying a mirror at all times when wearing this. Aside form that, It's a really nice lipstick. Very bold and striking.

I hope this inspire you guys to pull out your more daring lip colours and use them more often.

Teaser Haul: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Hey everyone.

Today I went to the mall and purchased some of the colorburst lip butter. This is a cult favorite right now. A lot of bloggers and youtubers rave about this so much.

Anyway, I can't use these before i take some pictures and when i came home today, it's already dark. I can't possibly do any swatches. So, I took some product pictures first and i'll do the swatches on monday.

Here it is:

Yeap, I got carried away. At first I decided to only allow myself to get a max of 6, but I ended up with 10. There are 3 more colours that I really want (Lollipop, Sugar Plum, and Berry Smoothie), but i decided to just try these first and I can always go back and pick up more if I like them.

And here is some crappy swatches:

I can't wait to do proper swatches, reviews, and possibly dupe colours.

Have a great weekend everyone ^^

Current Obsession : Revlon Nail Polishes

Have you ever tried Revlon nail polishes?

I always trusted my nails to OPI. I know they can be expensive sometimes. Like if you buy them at Sephora (singapore) or any department stores, they will cost about SGD 23.50, in smaller stores they will cost about SGD 15-18, but if you find a very remote place or maybe online store they will cost about SGD 9-11 (I usually pre-order my OPI nail polishes from Wow! Pretty Nails)

Anyway, Revlon nail polishes in Singapore is quite expensive. If I'm not wrong, they retail about SGD 7-8 (my friend just informed me, it is SGD 12). So, I never thought that they are worth it, until I came back to Indo and saw that they are only about SGD 5 here (after conversion). I started by buying 3 and then my collection grew.

L-R: Peach Smoothie, Cotton Candy, Gum Drop, Not So Blueberry, Beach

L-R: Silver Dollar, Revlon Red, Vixen, Midnight Affair

L-R: Peachy, Jaded, Pink Lingerie, Grape, Hazy, Stormy

There are several formulation to these polishes. I'm not so sure how many, but from what i have there are 4.

1. Scented Perfume
As shown in the first picture here. These are definitely my favorite formulation. They are scented, so, they will smell nice once they dry. It smells nice even if you layer a top coat on it. The smell doesn't last forever though. I'd say they lasted for about a day and a half. They are scented according to their name (ex: peach smoothie smells like peach, cotton candy smells like sweet candy, etc)

2. Metallic
I only have one of this, the silver dollar. I don't see any difference in application compared to their normal nail polishes.

3. Their regular nail polishes

4. Top Speed
I have to say that this is probably my least favorite formulation. My complain for this formulation is the strong nauseating scent. You really need to be in a good ventilated room to apply these nail polishes. My theory is (don't quote me, I might be wrong) that because these polishes dry very fast, they contain more alcohol.

Despite the pros and cons, I have to tell you that Revlon nail polishes are probably one of the best affordable nail polish out there. Out of all that i bought, there is no lack of pigmentation. They are very pigmented, making the application easy. They are not streaky and they have a good range of colours.

My top three would be Silver Dollar, Cotton Candy, and Revlon Red.

I've even heard about revlon whimsical which is a dupe for a deborah lippmann nail polish. Not something that i'm interested in though.

So, anyway, that's it for my current obsession. I can't wait to go to the mall tomorrow, because Revlon colorburst lip butter is finally out.. YAY! and i also can't wait for the nicole by OPI kardashian kolor collection (which will be out soon too)

Have a great weekend everyone

Drugstore Lipsticks

Gosh.. It's been raining non stop here in Indo. It's just impossible to take good quality pics outdoor.

Anyway, I went shopping last saturday, and found a good deal for maybelline lipsticks. They are 45% off. So, I picked up a bunch of them.

I'm in a lipstick and nail polish horde. I never did a nail polish haul because I'm too lazy to do the swatches. I don't like putting on and removing nail polish over and over again. It's just too much work.

There are one MUFE and 3 revlons as well. so here it goes.

1. Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural in Folk

This is part of a collection (I'm not sure which, but I think it's the boho collection or bohemian). It's quite sheer being a rouge artist natural. To tell you the truth, i don't like the special packaging. It doesn't look sleek and nice like their usual packaging. It just look tacky to me.

2. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Blushing Mauve (460)

Revlon is probably the drugstore brand i'll go to when i'm looking for lipsticks. They are very pigmented and not drying. I can't wait for the lip butter to come in. It's supposed to be around feb-march. YAY!

3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink In The Afternoon (415)

A really nice pinky nude colour. I feel like there is a lot of misconception about nude lips. I don't think that nude is super pale almost skin tone colour (like ex: MAC creme de nude). I think the best nude is something that is one to two shade lighter than your natural lip colour, not skin colour.

4. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid (457)

Okay, the pics are not doing justice for this lipstick. This is like a gorgeous orchid colour with a ton of blue and purple iridescent sparkles. So gorgeous. I don't own anything like this and that's saying a lot, considering my 158 lipstick collection (I really have to stop buying lipsticks!).

Moving on to the Maybelline's

5. Maybelline Color Sensational in Cosy Tangerine (C31)

6. Maybelline Color Sensational in Coral Pearl (CP02)

7. Maybelline Color Sensational in Nude Pearl (BP03)

8. Maybelline Color Sensational in Toffee Cream (B43)

9. Maybelline Color Sensational in Loving Red (RM41)

So, If i have to choose, i'll say i love the revlons' more than the maybellines'. But, that's solely because of the packaging. Revlon's packaging is sleeker and it has some weight, where as the maybelline's is kinda light and feels cheap. In terms of the consistency, i find that both are pigmented and gildes on easily. I don't think they are scented. It's not a big deal for me, but maybe some of you would like to know.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. specially the maybelline's which is about SGD 2.50 each after discount.

I hope your days are better than my gloomy rain days.

September 2011 Favorites

It's the end of the month, so it's time for monthly favorite!

I've been traveling a lot for the past two months, so most of these are things that i carry around with me.

Here it goes:

Skin Food - Black Sugar Mask
I use this mostly as face scrub. It makes my skin feel super smooth (I'll do a review on this soon).

Etude House - Essence Mask (Collagen)
I always feel like my skin dries out every time i have long hour flight. This mask helps moisturize and tighten the skin. I'm totally addicted to this mask. I know Etude house has a lot of different kind of masks. I've personally tried most of them, but this is my favorite. I always have at least 20 packs of this in my house.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
This is my current favorite foundation. I will definitely do a separate review for this.

L-R: Bare Minerals - matte foundation and Bare Minerals - mineral veil
These are what I use when I'm feeling lazy or when I don't have much time to do my makeup. I'll also do a separate review for these.

Laura Mercier - Secret Camouflage Concealer
Best concealer I've ever tried. Amazingly light consistency, but gives a lot of coverage.

Garnier - light BB eye roll on
This is an easy fix to brighten your face. I use this mainly as my under eye concealer. Easy to use and very good consistency. It doesn't settle on fine lines and doesn't crease throughout the day.

Dior - Amber Diamond highlighting powder
I haven't been wearing any highlighter during the month of August, but once i tried this on, I use this on a daily basis. I've heard a lot of rave upon this product, but I always shake my head and think "How can this be any different with any MAC MSFs?! How much better can this be!". But now, I'm proven wrong. This is so much better than MSFs. The shimmer is so fine that it almost looks like a sheen. And this is actually the product that JLo's makeup artist use on her, to achieve those gorgeous glow on her skin.

Chanel - Pink explosion blush
I've had this for quite a while, but never really use it. So, on my trip to South Africa, I decided to bring this just so i can use it up. I ended up falling in love with this blush. It creates the most gorgeous pinky flush on your skin. The shimmer is just so beautiful.

L-R: Bare Minerals - hypershine (Glisten) and Bare Minerals - vanilla sugar eyeshadow
I've been very lazy lately, so I use this two for my everyday look. All I do is, I spread glisten all over my lid, and use vanilla sugar to blend the edges. I also use vanilla sugar at the inner corner to make me look more awake. (my mom always say that i am a bat. I mostly sleep during day time and awake at night. So i really need a boost of inner corner highlight)

Revlon - Brow Fantasy in light brown
Again, a very lazy brow fix product. I didn't even use the pencil, i only use the brow gel. I have a very dark hair, but I choose light brown because the dark brown colour is just way too dark. This shade works okay on me.

Dolly Wink liquid liner
Love Love Love this eyeliner. This is the "marker" style liner. It has a very fine felt tip so it's perfect for a precise thin line. I even love this more than my Lancome artliner.

Maybelline volum' express one by one
I did a separate review on these. Please check it out if you want to know more about these mascaras. Click Here

L-R: MAC 2N lipglass, Bourjois Effect 3D Max in no 66, Jack Black Lip Balm in Natural Mint
MAC 2N Lipglass is my all time favorite lipgloss. I probably have a few application left. I need to open my back up soon ^^
This Bourjois lipglass is something that i've just discover. It's super smooth, nice finish, and not sticky at all. It also has a very unique applicator.
Jack Black lip balm is probably the best lip balm ever. I used to swore by carmex, but this one blow carmex out of the line. I find this lip balm is not greasy at all. It's very moisturizing and it stays on for very long. It also has SPF of 25, which a lot of people neglect to care, but, your lips, like your skin, also needs protection.

Bath and Body Works body spray in sweet pea and warm vanilla sugar
A very small range of bath and body works are now available in Changi airport DFS. I was beyond excited to find these. Warm vanilla sugar is definitely my favorite BBW scent. It always makes me happy to smell that. On the contrary I really hate sweet pea when I tried it as a candle, but I think as body spray, it kinda works. I spray both of these EVERY WHERE. literally every where. On my body (Duh!), in my room, on my clothes, on my soft toys, on my bed. I probably shouldn't spray these on my bed, but, oh well i don't care.

The Original beauty blender sponge
Beauty blender is finally available in singapore. I found this at Bugis BHG. It retails for 29.95 SGD (if i remember correctly). Kinda expensive don't you think? But for what it's worth, I think this is an egg sent from heaven for all makeup junkies (I'm being hyperbolic). Anyway, this little egg has replaced all of my foundation brushes. This gives the most flawless foundation finish. The only down side is that it's kinda hard to clean.

That's all for my favorites this month.. *Pheeewwww* What a long post.

I hope you guys have a great weekend. (I hope I do too ^^ )
