Braids

I stumble upon this picture on instagram (Username: gracemarlyn) last week. I tried to find it in google but didn't manage to find this pic.

Anyway, since braids are so in right now (ever since The Hunger Games movies), I just wanna share this amazing braid i found. It seems like a zig-zag french braid, but I'm not sure how she finished the braid.

So, have you guys been rocking this trend? I personally have been doing side french braid as my go-to bad hair day.

Hope you all have a great day or evening.

Kony 2012

Hey Guys,

I just watched this video and I didn't realize what is happening. This is a very serious matter that I feel like we need to help as much as we can. I know I don't have many followers on this blog, but I believe if at least there will be one more person that know about this, it's worth it. Please repost this if you have any blog or just share it on your facebook page. Let's educate people about Invisible Children and Kony 2012. Help their cause as much as we can.

Spread the word about this. It cost you nothing to repost or share on your facebook page. Like the video says, "who are you not to end a war?"

Teaser Haul: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Hey everyone.

Today I went to the mall and purchased some of the colorburst lip butter. This is a cult favorite right now. A lot of bloggers and youtubers rave about this so much.

Anyway, I can't use these before i take some pictures and when i came home today, it's already dark. I can't possibly do any swatches. So, I took some product pictures first and i'll do the swatches on monday.

Here it is:

Yeap, I got carried away. At first I decided to only allow myself to get a max of 6, but I ended up with 10. There are 3 more colours that I really want (Lollipop, Sugar Plum, and Berry Smoothie), but i decided to just try these first and I can always go back and pick up more if I like them.

And here is some crappy swatches:

I can't wait to do proper swatches, reviews, and possibly dupe colours.

Have a great weekend everyone ^^

Current Obsession : Revlon Nail Polishes

Have you ever tried Revlon nail polishes?

I always trusted my nails to OPI. I know they can be expensive sometimes. Like if you buy them at Sephora (singapore) or any department stores, they will cost about SGD 23.50, in smaller stores they will cost about SGD 15-18, but if you find a very remote place or maybe online store they will cost about SGD 9-11 (I usually pre-order my OPI nail polishes from Wow! Pretty Nails)

Anyway, Revlon nail polishes in Singapore is quite expensive. If I'm not wrong, they retail about SGD 7-8 (my friend just informed me, it is SGD 12). So, I never thought that they are worth it, until I came back to Indo and saw that they are only about SGD 5 here (after conversion). I started by buying 3 and then my collection grew.

L-R: Peach Smoothie, Cotton Candy, Gum Drop, Not So Blueberry, Beach

L-R: Silver Dollar, Revlon Red, Vixen, Midnight Affair

L-R: Peachy, Jaded, Pink Lingerie, Grape, Hazy, Stormy

There are several formulation to these polishes. I'm not so sure how many, but from what i have there are 4.

1. Scented Perfume
As shown in the first picture here. These are definitely my favorite formulation. They are scented, so, they will smell nice once they dry. It smells nice even if you layer a top coat on it. The smell doesn't last forever though. I'd say they lasted for about a day and a half. They are scented according to their name (ex: peach smoothie smells like peach, cotton candy smells like sweet candy, etc)

2. Metallic
I only have one of this, the silver dollar. I don't see any difference in application compared to their normal nail polishes.

3. Their regular nail polishes

4. Top Speed
I have to say that this is probably my least favorite formulation. My complain for this formulation is the strong nauseating scent. You really need to be in a good ventilated room to apply these nail polishes. My theory is (don't quote me, I might be wrong) that because these polishes dry very fast, they contain more alcohol.

Despite the pros and cons, I have to tell you that Revlon nail polishes are probably one of the best affordable nail polish out there. Out of all that i bought, there is no lack of pigmentation. They are very pigmented, making the application easy. They are not streaky and they have a good range of colours.

My top three would be Silver Dollar, Cotton Candy, and Revlon Red.

I've even heard about revlon whimsical which is a dupe for a deborah lippmann nail polish. Not something that i'm interested in though.

So, anyway, that's it for my current obsession. I can't wait to go to the mall tomorrow, because Revlon colorburst lip butter is finally out.. YAY! and i also can't wait for the nicole by OPI kardashian kolor collection (which will be out soon too)

Have a great weekend everyone

Drugstore Lipsticks

Gosh.. It's been raining non stop here in Indo. It's just impossible to take good quality pics outdoor.

Anyway, I went shopping last saturday, and found a good deal for maybelline lipsticks. They are 45% off. So, I picked up a bunch of them.

I'm in a lipstick and nail polish horde. I never did a nail polish haul because I'm too lazy to do the swatches. I don't like putting on and removing nail polish over and over again. It's just too much work.

There are one MUFE and 3 revlons as well. so here it goes.

1. Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural in Folk

This is part of a collection (I'm not sure which, but I think it's the boho collection or bohemian). It's quite sheer being a rouge artist natural. To tell you the truth, i don't like the special packaging. It doesn't look sleek and nice like their usual packaging. It just look tacky to me.

2. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Blushing Mauve (460)

Revlon is probably the drugstore brand i'll go to when i'm looking for lipsticks. They are very pigmented and not drying. I can't wait for the lip butter to come in. It's supposed to be around feb-march. YAY!

3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink In The Afternoon (415)

A really nice pinky nude colour. I feel like there is a lot of misconception about nude lips. I don't think that nude is super pale almost skin tone colour (like ex: MAC creme de nude). I think the best nude is something that is one to two shade lighter than your natural lip colour, not skin colour.

4. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid (457)

Okay, the pics are not doing justice for this lipstick. This is like a gorgeous orchid colour with a ton of blue and purple iridescent sparkles. So gorgeous. I don't own anything like this and that's saying a lot, considering my 158 lipstick collection (I really have to stop buying lipsticks!).

Moving on to the Maybelline's

5. Maybelline Color Sensational in Cosy Tangerine (C31)

6. Maybelline Color Sensational in Coral Pearl (CP02)

7. Maybelline Color Sensational in Nude Pearl (BP03)

8. Maybelline Color Sensational in Toffee Cream (B43)

9. Maybelline Color Sensational in Loving Red (RM41)

So, If i have to choose, i'll say i love the revlons' more than the maybellines'. But, that's solely because of the packaging. Revlon's packaging is sleeker and it has some weight, where as the maybelline's is kinda light and feels cheap. In terms of the consistency, i find that both are pigmented and gildes on easily. I don't think they are scented. It's not a big deal for me, but maybe some of you would like to know.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. specially the maybelline's which is about SGD 2.50 each after discount.

I hope your days are better than my gloomy rain days.

Singapore Haul - day 2

Hi again everyone. I am super tired right now. I spent the whole day jumping from shop to shop. I didn't buy that much beauty products though, so here is it:

I found travalo at watsons taka. SUPER EXCITED. I've never tried this before. I bought two, which is the black and gold one. One for Viva La Jucicy and the other for Daisy. They are approximately 25 SGD.

Yesterday, I was flipping singapore's cleo magazine and saw the ad for the new L'oreal Color riche lipstick line. It is a few pages of different makeup look. One of it has this pic

An orange lipstick that i've been looking around since Ashley Grenne's photo on seventeen magazine. So, I went to check out the line. There are 20 colours in total, but for some reason, they only have 10 in the special lipsticks display. The colour in this ad is supposed to be the colour no 373, magnetic rose. They are SGD 20.90, but right now watsons is having quite some sale. So, they are 20% off.

I am very disappointed in the colour. It doesn't look at all orange. It's just another coral lipstick to me. I really don't understand how they promote this shade with such an ad. The colour is not even close.

When i swatched it in the store, i was pretty surprised how the real colour differ from the ad campaign pic. I bought this just to show you guys how inaccurate the ad is.

Also, because I'm me, I can't just buy one, so tried some neutrals

235, Nude. It doesn't seem like it has much pigmentation, but I like the sheen.

379, Sensual Rose.

Just so you guys can see the pigmentation, i did swatch these lipsticks on my hand.

L-R: 235, 373, 379

Okay, one last thing i picked up.

Shu Uemura creamy dome blusher in sunlight peach. This is part of a collection, which means it's limited edition. I really like how easily blend-able this is. I haven't tried this on my face though.

So that's all for day 2. ^^

Singapore Haul - day 1

I'm in Singapore!!! YAY!!! but only for 10 days >.<

Anyway, since i'm not gonna stay here for very long, i can't waste any time not to shop, so here is what i got yesterday

First I went to Watsons. I was pretty surprised that they have a lot of new exciting stuff. I'm gonna go back there today ^^

So, I got:

This has been in a lot of youtube videos. I've always wanted to try one, so i got the pink sparkly one which is in the shade "Your lips say everything". To tell you the truth, I will probably never buy this anymore. I just don't think it's worth it. I paid SGD 19.90 for just 3 applications. I'd much rather spend the money on a lipstick that i know i can use more than 3 times.

Sally Hansen complete salon manicure in Peachy Keen. I haven't tried it yet, but i really like the colour.

Sally Hansen salon effects real nail polish strips in glitz blitz and bling it on. This is another thing that i just wanna try, but will never purchase again, especially the glitter one (I might buy the one with nice patterns). I really regret buying these. I mean, if i got the ones with intricate designs, it might be worth it, but these???? they are just glitters. I should have just bought a glitter nail polish. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??

Anyway, moving on, I went to the Lush store at Wisma Atria yesterday. I wasn't gonna buy anything, but the SA told me that all of their christmas set is having a 25% discount. I LOVE their christmas stuff, especially the bath stuff.

I bought this for 44 dollars, which is quite a good bargain. It came with Superstars bubble bar, candy mountain bubble bar, lil' lush pud bath ballistic, The melting snowman luxury bath melt, cinders bath ballistic, so white bath ballistic.

Magic Wand. It smells like rockstar soap. LOVE IT! I might go back to lush too today, because i wanna pick up more of their holiday sets. I kinda wish they have the candy cane bubble bar like last year. I really like that one. I bought like 4 of them last year (I mean 2010) and i've used all of it up >.<

Oooh... and the last thing, I bought this at the duty free. This is so yummy....

I always buy some sort of liquor in the airport. They are so darn cheap. this is the 1 L bottle. I paid for only 23 dollars. If you buy this in town, it might go as high as 70 bucks. So, yea, whenever you are in the airport and you are not underage, you should buy one of this. I'm not an alcoholic, but every now and then I like to have a sip of liquor.

Anyway, i'm gonna go and do more shopping, so see you in the next haul haha ^^
